- Q: How to replace the lower intake manifold on 2009 Chevrolet Equinox?A: Users must drain the cooling system using one of the following methods: ly7 ge 47716 fill, lnj ge 47716 fill, lnj static fill, or ly7 static fill. Begin by stripping the electric heater's inlet pipe and upper Intake Manifold. Start by disconnecting the Radiator Hose from the Thermostat and then remove the Fuel Rail before proceeding. Begin by uninstalling the bolts securing the lower Intake Manifold while removing the manifold from its place. The installation of a new lower Intake Manifold requires the removal of the Thermostat along with the housing then the rocker arms and push rods before installing the lower Intake Manifold gaskets. To install the gaskets properly maintain a clean surface on all mating areas by removing foreign substances and oil before installation without using rtv sealer below the lower Intake Manifold gaskets. Put in the new lower Intake Manifold gaskets together with rocker arms and push rods and lower Intake Manifold seals. Seal the bottom edge of the lower Intake Manifold with rtv before installing it on the engine block. When using old fasteners either apply thread-locking chemical or install new fasteners with thread-locking patches. Clean all lower Intake Manifold bolts and torque them in sequence: the technician torqued the first set of bolts to 13 nm and the second set to 20 nm while the third set got 25 nm torque. Reinstall the Fuel Rail assembly after connecting the radiator inlet hose to the Thermostat Housing and installing the heater inlet pipe. Reinstall the upper Intake Manifold then use the recommended filling technique for your engine type either ly7 ge 47716 fill or lnj ge 47716 fill or lnj static fill or ly7 static fill.
