How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2009 Chevrolet HHR?

To replace the engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, start by partially draining the cooling system of the vehicle. Remove the heat shield if need be from the electrical connector and then remove the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor as well as remove the ect. For installation, tighten ect 20nm (15 lb ft), reconnect engine wiring harness electrical connector to ect sensor. If necessary, replace the heat shield around the electrical connector and top up the cooling system accordingly.
