2009 Chevrolet Malibu Control Arm Bushing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front lower control arm bushing on 2009 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: The vehicle should be lifted before support while performing this repair. Start by removing both the tire with its wheel and then proceed to remove the lower Control Arm. Next the mechanic removes the lower Control Arm to rear bushing bolt carefully tracking the bushing's original position before removing it from the Control Arm. Install the new bushing onto the lower Control Arm following previously described installation steps. Preapply locktite(TM) 234 or an equivalent product on the bolt threads before installing the lower Control Arm to bushing bolt. Avoid vehicle damage during fastener installation steps. When tightening the rear bushings to Control Arm Bolt maintain a torque of 44 nm (32 lb ft) while holding the inner sleeve of the rear bushing. Lower Control Arm installation follows tire and wheel placement and vehicle lowering.
