How to service and repair the Engine Mount, Motor and Transmission Mount on 2009 Chevrolet Malibu?

As the first step for servicing the engine and transmission mounts start by taking out the air cleaner assembly and battery tray. First you should lift the vehicle for support before unfastening the transaxle mount through bolts from both the front and the rear. Two floor jacks with wood blocks must support the powertrain assembly after you lower the vehicle. Prior to repositioning supporting floor jacks you should loosen both transaxle mount bolts along with engine mount to bracket bolts so you can create a 1/8 inch gap between mounting components. Start by securing the transaxle mount through bolts from rear to front and middle with 45 nm (33 lb ft) torque value. Then proceed with securing the engine mount to bracket bolts from rear to front using a torque of 50 nm (37 lb ft). Shake the powertrain from front to rear while the floor jacks are under the Oil Pan then allow the powertrain to settle. Tighten the rear and front transaxle mount through bolts to 100 nm (74 lb ft) after another vehicle lift. After the vehicle lowers install both the battery tray and the air cleaner assembly.
