How to replace the Fuel Level Sensor in a Regular Cab with a 26 Gal Tank on 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

The replacement of the Fuel Level Sensor starts by taking out the Fuel Tank from a regular cab with a 26 gal tank. Connectors for both the fuel feed pipe and evaporative emission (EVAP) pipe must be disconnected from the Fuel Tank module before re-routing these pipes to a safe position. The lock ring of the Fuel Tank module can be unlocked with the j 45722 which should rotate clockwise without harming the ring. To expose the Fuel Level Sensor float arm correctly raise the module while gently tilting it to prevent damaging the float arm during this process. Empty fuel from the storage bucket into authorized waste containers before taking out the old o-ring seal from the module and saving potentially reusable lock rings that show no damage. Check the lock ring for any signs of warpage; if the maximum deformity reaches more than 0.41 mm (0.016 in) the lock ring needs replacement. Install the new Fuel Tank module o-ring seal properly and tilt the module to avoid the tank opening before lowering it into the fuel reservoir. Use j 45722 to obtain counterclockwise lock ring torque when installing the Fuel Tank module lock ring. Reinstall the Fuel Tank after connecting the fuel and evap pipes with the module.
