2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
A: To change the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring you need to take out the necessary valve rocker arms and spark plugs. Add the j 22794 adapter into the Spark Plug port and attach a hose to compressed air before directing airflow into the valve positions to stabilize them. Install the Rocker Arm bolt and valve spring into the valve spring you need to remove while placing a flat washer on top. Take careful steps when working with valve springs since they will come out forcefully under compressed conditions. Use the j 5892-d (Valve Spring Compressor) to compress the valve spring by inserting its slotted end under the beverage on the Rocker Arm bolt until the valve keys become easy to access. When the j 38606 fails to contain the valve spring, install its alternative j 38606. Open the j 5892-d or j 38606 valve compressor device to take off the valve keys, synchronize valve spring loosening, and safely remove the aid tool. Remove the valve spring cap then valve spring before taking out the Valve Stem Oil Seal. Slide the appropriate valve into its location and apply voltage seal as well to the valve guide and bearing. Position the Valve Stem Oil Seal onto the valve guide with the j 42073 Valve Stem Oil Seal installer until it stays 1-2mm apart. Put the valve spring onto its holder before pressing the j 5892-d to push the valve spring to reach its seating position. When valve space is tight switch to j 38606 instead. Put the valve stem o-ring seal in its position and push the valve stem keys with grease to stabilize them. Slowly lower the valve spring pressure while making certain that the keys stay in place on the valve stem to maintain engine safety. Check the valve stem key placement before you take out the j 5892-d or j 38606 valve spring tool. Also tap the stem if keys need adjustment. Reinsert the spark plugs and valve rocker arms after taking off the j 22794 part.
