2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: Rephrase the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring replacement process by keeping the disassembled parts correctly labeled for easy reassembly. Set the air compressor to 50 psi first to stop the Crankshaft from turning before opening the cylinder. Start by lifting the vehicle with support stands then take off the Torque Converter cover plug. Install the j 44226-3a (15 mm holding bar) on top of the Torque Converter bolt to lock the Crankshaft while lowering the vehicle. To maintain the chain components' position remove the timing gear bolts and put the j 44222 (Camshaft Sprocket Holding Tool) on the Cylinder Head. Adjust the two side bolts on the Camshaft sprockets for correct chain tension followed by slowly sliding the sprockets with the chain off the cams. Secure the Camshaft caps in a stacking tool before uninstalling them. Air compress ions into the cylinder through a suitable attachment after removing all Camshaft parts. Insert the j-44228-a device to compress valve springs before taking out the valve keys and valve spring retainer and spring. Install the j 38820 tool to manage valve stem seals while you remove them for cleaning and checking the Cylinder Head surface. Place clean engine oil on valve stems before using j 38820 to put in valve seals then position valve springs and valve spring retainers. Press down the valve springs through the j-44228-a compressor then fit valve keys and remove the compressor. Lower pressure from the cylinder and apply clean engine oil to the Camshaft journals as well as its thrust face and lobes before reinserting the parts back where they belong. Put the Camshaft caps back on their precise journals and bolt them to 12 nm (106 lb in) torque. Adjust the Camshaft sprockets onto their positions before taking out j 44222. Put on fresh intake Camshaft sprocket equipment and bolt the exhaust Camshaft actuator replacement bolt while tightening the intake Camshaft sprocket bolt first to 20 nm (15 lb ft) and afterward using j 36660-a setup for an extra 100 degrees. After placing the spark plugs in place install the Camshaft cover then ease the exhaust actuator bolt to 25 nm (18 lb ft) during the first step and turn the bolt an extra 135 degrees using j 36660-a. Lift up the vehicle and switch back the j 44226-3a from the Torque Converter bolt while inserting the Torque Converter access plug before lowering the vehicle.
