    Q:
How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
You must lift and stabilize your vehicle before starting the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring replacement work. Put the en 46547 into the flywheel teeth after pulling out the service slot plug and lower the vehicle. The next step involves taking out both valve rocker arms and spark plugs. Place the j-44228-a (J-44228-A) base plate over the service cylinder Spark Plug hole. After that put the j 39313 (J 39313) inside the Spark Plug hole while keeping continuous air pressure from closing the valve. Install the j-44228-a elements carefully over the stud holding the chosen valve while taking care of its powerful spring compression. Twist the swivel nut partially to reach the valve locks and then pry out the valve locks with a magnet. Twist the hand nut to reveal the entire arm then move it aside to take out the valve spring retainer and valve spring. Twist and pull the j 38820 (J 38820) tool to replace the old valve stem seal through its gip points. Before sealing the new stem valve apply clean engine oil to both valve surface and inner seal area then use the j 38820 tool to install the new seal. Reposition the valve spring and valve spring retainer while fixing the arm above them then tighten the swivel nut until the valve locks become visible. Use the j 43059 tool to place valve locks and then free the swivel nut and arm of j-44228-a. Follow this procedure on each cylinder valve to lower air pressure and extract the j 39313 piece from the Spark Plug. Raise the car once more and support it to put in the spark plugs and valve rocker arms on the base plate of the j-44228-a. Finally, install the service slot plug and remove the en 46547 from the flywheel teeth to complete the repair.

    Q:
How to Replace a Valve Stem Oil Seal and Valve Spring Using a Rocker Shaft Spring Kit on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
You should start by disconnecting the valve Rocker Arm before replacing the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring parts. Twist the Spark Plug wire boot by half a turn then grab only the boot part to take it off the Spark Plug. Pull out all spark plugs before starting work at normal room temperature. Turn the Spark Plug 1-2 times and clean the area with compressed air before removing it. Use j 22794 Spark Plug port adapter to insert in the Spark Plug hole and connect an Air Hose to it. Compressed air through j 22794 holds the valve positions while in place. Compress the valve spring by means of j 38606 before taking off valve stem keys and gently easing valve tension. Take off j 38606 valve spring compressor along with the valve spring cap and valve spring. Also remove the Valve Stem Oil Seal/shim assembly (1, 5). Apply new oil to the valve guide and Valve Stem Oil Seal before moving on to the valve spring set-up. First put in both parts of the Valve Stem Oil Seal/shim (numbers 1 and 5) then set the valve spring and finish with the valve spring cap. Depress the valve spring using j 38606 tool then apply grease into the valve keys to secure them before placing them into the valve stem groove. Let the valve spring pressure out after ensuring the valve keys stay set properly and take out j 38606. Use a plastic faced hammer to gently tap the valve stem end when needed to properly seat the keys. Put j 22794 back into the Spark Plug port then start the plug by hand and tighten it to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Push each Spark Plug wire boot lightly sideways to verify its secure position before connecting both ends to the Ignition Coil and Spark Plug. Complete the process by installing the valve Rocker Arm.

    Q:
How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on GMC Envoy? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring replacement project using these tools: valve stem seal remover and installer (J 38820), camshaft sprocket holding tool (J 44222), valve spring compressor (J-44228-A), and crankshaft balancer remover (J 44226). Arrange valve train parts before taking them apart and place them back in their correct positions when finished. Set air pressure to 50 psi at the air compressor port before using it to pump up the cylinder to avoid turning the crankshaft. Lift the vehicle and take out the torque converter access plug at its base. Reposition the vehicle on the ground and insert the j 44226-3a 15 mm holding bar onto the torque converter bolt to lock the crankshaft. Install the j 44222 onto the cylinder head before any work on the timing chain components to keep them protected. Adjust both horizontal bolts in Camshaft sprockets to hold tension and steer the sprockets and timing chain off the camshafts. Set the Camshaft caps on a rack when you uninstall their bolts to reinstall them correctly later. After taking off the Camshaft caps and camshafts you should push air into the cylinder through an appropriate connector. Installation of j-44228-a enables compression of valve springs giving access to remove valve keys which you can then take off j-44228-a. Afterward detach valve spring retainer and valve spring from j 38820 tool. Before adding oil to valve stems inspect and ready the cylinder head for valve stem lubrication with engine oil. After applying the j 38820 to install the valve seals put the valve spring followed by valve spring retainer. Press valve springs with the j-44228-a tool until you can add valve keys. Then remove the j-44228-a tool before releasing the trapped air from the cylinder. Apply clean engine oil to every Camshaft surface and lubricate the valve stems with the same oil before placing the camshafts back in their designated positions. Place the Camshaft caps on their direct journals and tighten cap bolts to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Transfer the Camshaft sprockets back to their camshafts before taking out the j 44222. Reinstall the intake Camshaft sprocket components by tightening the bolt to 20 n.m in two steps. Also reinstall the new exhaust Camshaft actuator bolt to specified torque. Start by tightening the exhaust Camshaft actuator bolt to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) during the first stage and perform the final stage by spinning the j 36660-a 135 more degrees. Afterward, fit the spark plugs and Camshaft cover before lifting the vehicle for further work. Install the access plug into the torque converter hole while also taking out the j 44226-3a wrench. Lower the vehicle afterward.
