2008 Chevrolet Colorado Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on 2008 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: Before beginning work you must lift and stabilize your vehicle. Lower the vehicle when you have installed the service slot plug and the en 46547 into the Flywheel teeth. Begin with removing the camshafts and spark plugs from the engine. Insert the j-44228-a plate at the Spark Plug hole and push in the j 39313 into the Spark Plug opening. Hold the valve closed with constant air pressure. Secure the j-44228-a's components onto the selected valve stud with attention to handling the compressed valve springs safely. Twist the swivel nut until you reach the valve locks then use a magnet to extract the locks. Widening the swivel nut lets you swing the arm to take off the valve spring retainer and valve spring. With j 38820 you can grip and extract the old valve stem seal through twisting and pulling movements. Apply clean engine oil on both the valve stem and inside the new seal before inserting it with j 38820 by twisting and pushing gently. Place the valve spring and spring retainer parts back then guide the arm toward the retainer before locking the swivel nut with moderate tension. The valve locks must be positioned with the j 43059 while you detach the swivel nut and arm of the j-44228-a. Do this procedure to all cylinder valves before you lower air pressure and remove the j 39313 from the Spark Plug hole. Install the camshafts and spark plugs over the base plate of j-44228-a before hoisting the vehicle. Put back the service slot plug and take off the en 46547 from the Flywheel teeth as the last step.
