2008 Chevrolet Colorado Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the lower timing chain guide on 2008 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: Start the replacement process of the lower Timing Chain Guide by taking off the Timing Chain tensioner shoe. Moving back the crankshaft sprocket from its location on the crankshaft sprocket snout will allow the Timing Chain to loosen for extracting the lower Timing Chain Guide. Start by removing the lower Timing Chain Guide bolts followed by the cylinder head access hole plug after which you can extract the lower Timing Chain Guide from within the engine. Set the lower Timing Chain Guide into the engine position before fastening its lower Timing Chain Guide bolts at 12 n.m (107 lb in). Put back the cylinder head access hole plug by torquing it to 5 n.m (44 lb in). Install the crankshaft sprocket onto the crankshaft sprocket snout while aligning the marked link of the Timing Chain with the timing mark on the sprocket and mount the Timing Chain tensioner shoe.
