    Q:
How to replace the rear crankshaft seal on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start with Flywheel removal before you begin changing the Crankshaft rear oil seal while maintaining careful protection of both the Crankshaft and the seal bore. A suitable tool should be used to pry out the Crankshaft rear oil seal from its housing on the Crankshaft rear oil seal housing. Remove the old seal. Before installing the Crankshaft rear oil seal users should apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the lip of the new component. Place the plastic installation sleeve from the new seal onto the Crankshaft. The installation requires the j 44215 rear seal installer (J 44215) along with the j 8092 driver handle (J 8092) and a hammer to properly position the Crankshaft rear oil seal into its housing while maintaining the spring side toward the engine and achieving correct alignment. Full installation causes the seal to sink entirely into the housing. Finally, reinstall the Flywheel.

    Q:
How to Ensure Proper Installation of the Crankshaft Seal on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the Crankshaft rear oil seal, you need to remove the Flywheel. The options are to remove it depending on the transmission type, i.e., either manual or automatic transmission. Reasons for doing such are mixed up. Make sure not to damage the Crankshaft or the seal bore during this process. It is important to follow the correct procedures and use the appropriate tools to ensure a successful replacement. Next, pry off the Crankshaft rear oil seal from the Crankshaft rear oil seal housing and discard the old seal. Lightly grease the lip of the new Crankshaft rear oil seal with clean engine oil before installation. Loosely fit the plastic installation sleeve supplied with the new seal to the Crankshaft. Use rear seal installer (J 44215) and driver handle (J 8092) along with a hammer, to put the Crankshaft rear oil seal into the housing, and make sure the sealing is square in the housing while bottoming it out from the engine. Lastly, put the Flywheel back in place using the right procedures.
