2009 GMC Envoy Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear crankshaft seal and housing on 2009 GMC Envoy?
A: To replace Crankshaft rear oil seal and the housing, first, you need to remove the transmission, then remove the Flywheel bolts and the Flywheel. Next, remove Crankshaft rear oil seal housing bolts and insert 2 bolts into jackscrew holes so as to release the cover from block. Then, take out the Crankshaft and rear oil seal house along with the seal of the Crankshaft snout. For installation, the (j 44227) is used to install the Crankshaft rear oil seal by ensuring that the housing has been installed within 10 min after application. Apply a 3 mm (0.12 in) layer of the sealant on the surface of Crankshaft rear oil seal housing where it is in contact with the engine block, on the surface of the seal where it meets the Oil Pan, and on the surface of the Oil Pan that is in contact with the housing. Mount the (J44219) guide pins into the block and push the Crankshaft rear oil seal housing over the alignment pins and the Crankshaft. Install the housing bolts, except the 2 that you will replace with the guide pins, and then pull out the guide pins and replace them with the remaining bolts, screwing all of them to a torque of 10 nm (89 lb in). Wipe off any remaining material from the bottom of the oil-sealing location of the oil-pan; then inscribe the Flywheel by fastening it securely using bolts all screwed to 25 nm (18 lb ft), and then use the (J 36660-A) to twist the bolts for just an extra 50 degrees. Finally, reinstall the transmission.
