How to replace the rear crankshaft seal and housing on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
Therefore, in trying to replace the Crankshaft rear oil seal and housing, pull out the transmission before the Flywheel bolts ensuring that you remove the Flywheel. Then, switch to removing the Crankshaft rear oil seal housing bolts and install two bolts in the jackscrew holes to allow the cover to be separated from the block. Then take off the Crankshaft and rear oil seal housing, and flaten the oil seal on the Crankshaft snout. For installation use rear seal installer (J 44227) to install the Crankshaft rear oil seal and then remove the installer. Use a 3 mm (0.12 inch) bead of the gm p/n 12378521 on the rear oil seal housing and insert the cover alignment pins (J 44219) into the block. Push the Crankshaft rear oil seal housing over the alignment pins and Crankshaft and install the housing bolts but do not install the two next to the guide pins. The guide pins to be removed, and two housing bolts to be tightened to 10 nm (89 inch lbs) for what is left. Clean off any extra material from around the Oil Pan sealing area, next install the Flywheel and tighten it using bolts, tightening them in sequence to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs). Lastly, you can use the torque angle meter (J 36660-A) in tightening the bolts by an extra 50 degrees so as to release before installing the transmission.
