  • Q: How to replace the engine front timing cover on 2009 GMC Envoy?
    A: Removing front cover of the engine first requires draining of the engine coolant. You may remove the cooling fan and shroud, then the Drive Belt, as well as the Water Pump. Then, pull off the crankshaft balancer and the Power Steering Pump. Lift the vehicle and pull out the Oil Pan. Lower your vehicle and remove the 7mm center bolt then loosen the rest of the engine front cover bolts. Put 2 of the front cover bolts into the jack screw holes on the front cover and tighten them evenly to unfasten the front cover off the engine. Take out the 2 bolts from the front cover and then the Oil Pump. Situation: clean and inspect the front cover. Mount the j 44219 into position on the engine, using a 3 mm (0.12 in) bead of sealer in the trace grooves on the back side of the engine front cover and inside the 3 bolt hole bosses of the cover. Mount the Oil Pump on the engine front cover and install it, tighten the center bolt last at 10 nm (89 lb in). Next step, change j 44219, lift the vehicle and install Oil Pan in place. Lower the vehicle and install the Power Steering Pump, crankshaft balancer, the Water Pump and the Drive Belt down to install the cooling fan and the shroud. Add coolant in the engine to finish the process.
