2009 GMC Envoy Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front disc brake pads on 2009 GMC Envoy?
A: Before handling the brake pads start by checking brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir you should drain fluid until the mark shows between its upper and lower limits. Lift the vehicle and take off both wheel and tire. Set the brake caliper aside on mechanical wire as you disconnect its lower guide pin bolt to lift it upward. Push the brake caliper pistons toward the caliper bores by pressing a wooden block or old Brake Pad into the cleavages while using the Brake Pad spreader. Take aside both brake pads while marking their exact positions for proper placement and remove the Brake Pad shims. When installing new brake pads keep the Brake Pad shims and position them with the inner and outer brake pads. Place the Brake Pad wear sensors precisely before placing the new brake caliper guide pin bolt. Place the brake caliper into position and fasten the lower brake caliper guide pin bolt with 42 nm of torque (31 lb ft). Put back the tire assembly and wheel underneath the vehicle where it belongs. Follow this by slightly pressing down on the brake pedal while your engine stays off. Apply the pressure three-fourth of the way to bottom then release it slowly. Let the brake pedal rest for 15 seconds while repeating this process till you reach proper piston and Brake Pad seating in the caliper. Complete the work by adding fluid to the master cylinder until it reaches the recommended amount and running the pads and rotors through a break-in process.
