  • Q: How to replace the starter motor on a 4.2L engine on 2009 GMC Envoy?
    A: To replace Starter motor on a 4.2l replace the negative Battery Cable first. Finally, release the vacuum brake booster hose, take off the battery positive lead from the dc solenoid, take off the Starter solenoid s-terminal lead nut before taking out the Starter solenoid s-terminal lead. Then dispose of the starting mount bolt and nut (1, 2) to withdraw the Starter motor. To install, start with the installation of the Starter motor while taking due care of fastener caution. Fasten the Starter motor mount bolt and nut to 50 nm (37 lb ft). Connect the positive Battery Cable with a nut that is tightened to 9 nm (80 lb in) to the Starter solenoid , and connect the Starter solenoid, s-terminal lead to the Starter solenoid attached with a nut that is tightened to 2.3 nm (20 lb in). Replace the vacuum brake booster hose and the last step will be reconnecting the battery negative cable.
