How to replace the negative battery cable on engines with LY2, LMF, or LY6 on 2009 GMC Savana 1500?

The replacement of the battery negative cable requires cable detachment from the battery on vehicles using LY2, LMF, or LY6 power units with 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L engine sizes. Detach the battery negative cable lead from its mount on the inner fender panel. To replace the battery negative cable you must disconnect the lead from the frame for models with a 5.3L engine but for models with 4.8L and 6.0L engines you disconnect the lead from the frame. The first step is to extract the lead from the engine block before taking out the battery negative cable from the vehicle body. Initiate negative cable installation into the vehicle by starting with the negative cable. When working with 4.8L or 6.0L engines connect the negative cable to the frame while keeping in mind all fastener cautions. Fasten and tighten the negative cable which leads to the engine block with 25 Nm (18 lb ft) torque. The negative cable lead of models with 5.3L engines requires attachment to the frame. Connect the negative cable lead to the inner fender panel followed by tightening the nut to 10 Nm (89 lb in). After this, join the negative cable to the battery.
