  A: Start by draining some fluid from the cooling system before beginning replacement of the engine coolant Thermostat (LF1/LLT). The next step requires you to uninstall the upper Intake Manifold. First disconnect the outlet pipe of the surge tank from the Thermostat housing before removing the coolant pipe/Thermostat housing bolt and the coolant pipe upper bolt. The first step is removing the coolant inlet pipe from the Thermostat before removing the bolts securing the Thermostat and discarding both the Thermostat seal. Bind the new Thermostat plate with its associated new Thermostat seal before installing the Thermostat bolts at 10 nm torque setting (89 lb in). The coolant pipe installation requires a new seal and fasteners (2 and 3) while the surge tank outlet pipe requires connection to the Thermostat before upper Intake Manifold reinstallation.
