    A: The procedure for left side parking brake rear cable (J55) replacement must begin with vehicle lifting. A person must pull down on the intermediate brake cable for tension relief before lifting the rear tab of the connector to disengage the intermediate brake cable from the front brake cable. First remove the brake cable retaining bolt after which you need to lift the tab to separate the brake cable from the equalizer. The Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) acts to evacuate the brake cable out of its mounting bracket before extracting the cable from the bracket. The inner brake cable should be pushed forward to get enough cable length before detaching it from the actuator by using the Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043). Before you install the brake cable you must place it correctly within the actuator arm before setting it into the mounting bracket. Position the brake cable on the rear Control Arm then put the retaining bolt into place while tightening it to 24 nm (18 lb ft). To complete the installation you should first fit the brake cable into the mounting bracket and join the cable to the equalizer by bending the lock tab accordingly. The installation process requires that locking tabs should fit correctly into their designated locations during intermediate and front brake cable connector integration. The park brake system functions through self-adjustment so the operator requires no adjustments to its cables. Finally, lower the vehicle.
