    A: The first step to change the right side parking brake rear cable (J55) requires vehicle elevation. The Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) enables users to first lower the intermediate brake cable with its lever until tension decreases before removing the rear tab to separate the intermediate brake cable from its attachment to the front brake cable . Start by detaching the brake cable from its connector at the right rear Control Arm while removing the retaining bolt. The Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) allows you to detach the park brake cable from its retaining bracket. Progress the inner cable forward so the actuator allows cable removal before disconnecting the end from the actuator body. You need the Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) again to remove the brake cable from its mounting bracket. When installing the cable end you must position it on top of the park brake actuator arm before fixing it to the bracket. Attach the brake cable end into the actuation arm before securing the park brake cable inside the retaining bracket. Position the park cable on the rear Control Arm before you install the retaining bolt which should be tightened to 24 nm (18 lb ft). First properly seat all locking tabs before installing the park brake cable into the right rear frame bracket while connecting the intermediate cable at the connector. Inside the self-adjusting park brake system there is no requirement for cable adjustment prior to vehicle lowering.
