    A: Changing the left side parking brake rear cable (J55) begins by elevating the vehicle. The intermediate brake cable tension should be decreased through downward cable pull before users detach the connector rear tab to separate the intermediate brake cable from the front brake cable. Use a tool to uninstall the elongated tab on the cable which allows you to pull the brake cable free from the equalizer . A Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) should be used to remove the brake cable from both the mounting bracket and then to take out the brake cable . First press the inner brake cable forward until it reaches a sufficient length for taking it off from the actuator before disconnecting it from the actuator. The Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) helps in removing the brake cable from its mounting bracket before removing the brake cable itself. Installation of the brake cable requires correct positioning of the actuator arm before placing it inside the mounting bracket. Position the brake cable on the rear Control Arm before installing its retaining bolt which needs to be tightened to 24 nm (18 lb ft). Install the brake cable in the mounting bracket before hooking up the cable to the equalizer where the lock tab should be bent into position. Proper installation of intermediate and front brake cables in the connector requires checking that the locking tabs are correctly in position. No adjustments are required for the park brake system because it has self-adjusting functionality. Finally, lower the vehicle.
