• Q: How to replace the hydraulic brake booster on 2009 Cadillac DTS?

  A: The process to replace a hydraulic Brake Booster should begin with disconnecting the battery negative cable and leveling the vehicle with block wheels and activated parking brake. Remove the power steering inlet hose together with the power steering pressure hose and power steering gear to booster hose. Before installation of the booster assembly start by taking out the master cylinder followed by the wiring harness bracket , spacer and left closeout insulator panel. Also remove the left knee bolster, vacuum Brake Booster retainer clip , foam spacer along with disconnecting the vacuum Brake Booster push rod from the Brake Pedal clevis pin. The vacuum Brake Booster assembly removal includes taking off the mounting nuts while also eliminating the vacuum Brake Booster assembly together with its mounting gasket in case of replacement. You must first install the vacuum Brake Booster mounting gasket to the booster if you removed it before putting on the vacuum Brake Booster assembly. Secure the Brake Pedal assembly to the booster stud mounting nuts at 36 nm (27 lb ft) while applying small amounts of gm p/n 12346293 lubricant or equivalent on the Brake Pedal clevis pin. Put the foam spacer together with retaining clip onto the clevis pin and then place the left knee bolster with left closeout insulator panel in position. Complete the installation of power steering pressure hose simultaneously with power steering gear to booster hose and power steering inlet hose. The procedure ends by reattaching the negative Battery Cable and performing hydraulic booster bleeding while recalibrating the brake position sensor followed by wheel block removal and parking brake release.
