2010 Cadillac DTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace a Brake Booster on 2010 Cadillac DTS?
A: Starting the power Brake Booster replacement requires users to disconnect the battery negative cable while positioning the vehicle level with blocked wheels and activated parking brake. Before replacement remove the power steering inlet hose and pressure hose together with the gear to booster hose. All components from the booster assembly including the master cylinder, wiring harness bracket with spacer and left closeout insulator panel along with left knee bolster need to be taken out. You must first separate the vacuum Brake Booster retainer clip together with the foam spacer from Brake Pedal clevis pin after which you can disconnect the vacuum Brake Booster push rod from the clevis pin before removing its mounting nuts to extract the vacuum Brake Booster assembly. The installation of the new booster assembly requires a replacement vacuum Brake Booster mounting gasket when needed. Lubricate the clevis pin with gm p/n 12346293 equivalent then install the Brake Pedal assembly onto the booster stud mounting nuts with 36 nm (27 lb ft) torque while attaching the vacuum Brake Booster pushrod to the clevis pin. Begin by setting in position both the foam spacer and retaining clip then install the left knee bolster before installing the left closeout insulator panel. Fitting the booster spacer alongside the wiring harness bracket allows you to place the master cylinder onto the booster assembly. Montage the power steering pressure hose with the gear to booster hose and power steering inlet hose. Complete the procedure by reconnecting the negative Battery Cable while bleaching the hydraulic booster system and recalibrating the brake position sensor followed by wheel block removal then releasing the parking brake.
