How to replace the front brake calipers (J55) on 2010 Cadillac DTS?

Before beginning front brake caliper replacement (J55) start by inspecting the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level. The fluid replacement requires no changes when the level rests at halfway between maximum capacity and minimum acceptable levels but a reduction to midway is needed if the level exceeds this point. Support the vehicle before marking wheel position relative to the axle flange and removing tires with wheels. The brake caliper installation requires a large c-clamp which compresses the caliper pistons into their bores so the caliper can pass by the rotor before removing the clamp. In order to replace the brake hose and caliper bolt gaskets, detach the hose while plugging the openings for fluid containment. Start by removing the brake caliper pin bolts and after that detach the brake caliper from its position. When installing the brake caliper clean pin bolts and retainers with denatured alcohol then dry them using filtered non-lubricated air. Place the brake caliper into position inside the bracket after applying high-temperature silicone brake lubricant to the pin bolts but not the Brake Pad hardware. Insert and tighten the pin bolts through new copper brake hose gaskets while applying 113 nm of torque (83 lb ft torque). Attach the brake hose bolt to the brake caliper with new gaskets while tightening it to 45 nm (33 lb ft). Apply a firm but gradual Brake Pedal force to approximately 2/3 of the maximum extension followed by a slow release while repeating this process until the brakes gain firmness to correctly position caliper pistons and pads. After completing the procedure lower the vehicle and reinstall the tire and wheel assembly.
