• Q: How to replace the front brake caliper bracket (J55) on 2009 Cadillac DTS?

  A: You can replace the front Brake Caliper Bracket (J55) by first pulling out the brake caliper then suspending it with hard mechanic wire. Keep the hydraulic brake flexible hose connected to the caliper. Separate the brake pads and retainers from their position in the Brake Caliper Bracket. Detach the Steering Knuckle assembly by taking out the Brake Caliper Bracket bolt. Clean the Brake Caliper Bracket using wire brushing and check it for any faults. Replace the bracket if found damaged or cracked. Clean the bolt thread holes with denatured alcohol or similar product then let them dry before installation. Screw in gm p/n 12345493 threadlocker (Canadian P/N 10953488) over two-thirds of the bolt length for the lower caliper bracket and allow it to dry for ten minutes without gaps. Fix the Brake Caliper Bracket to the Steering Knuckle part and tighten its bolt to a bolt torque of 246 nm. Put a small amount of high-temp silicone lube onto brake caliper pin bolts and put Brake Pad retainers and brake pads into place on the Brake Caliper Bracket. Finally, install the caliper.
