    Q:
How to replace the front brake caliper bracket (J55) on Cadillac DTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
Firstly, to replace the front Brake Caliper Bracket (J55) you must substitute the brake caliper in the mounting bracket and prop it by means of heavy mechanic's wire without detachment from the hydraulic brake flexible hose to the caliper. Then, remove the brake pads and the Brake Pad retainers from the Brake Caliper Bracket. Unscrew the Brake Caliper Bracket and separate the Brake Caliper Bracket from the Steering Knuckle assembly. Clean any debris or rust lying on the Brake Caliper Bracket using the wire brush and inspect it for any cracks or damage with a view of replacing it in case. Clean the brake caliper brace bolt threads and threaded holes of residue using denatured alcohol or an equivalent and leave them to dry before installation. Apply threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent to two-thirds of the threaded length of the lower caliper bracket bolts and ensure that there are no gaps, and allow it to cure for about ten minutes. Mount the caliper bracket onto the Steering Knuckle assembly, mount the Brake Caliper Bracket bolt and secure it to 246 nm (181 lb ft). Use a little bit of high-temperature silicone lube on the brake caliper pin bolts, then put in Brake Pad retainers and brake pads onto Brake Caliper Bracket and lastly the brake caliper itself.
