Replace the brake pipe section using an identical new pipe of same type and dimensions along with correct size and type fittings and match the existing flare design. Thoroughly check the brake pipe section that needs replacement then start to remove it from its sec Measure the entire length of the pipe with both bends and include 6.35mm (0.250 inches) for each flare. Cut through the brake pipe straight to the designated length with the pipe cutter tool (J 45405). Take off the section of pipe and add a suitable brake pipe together with tube nuts. Avoid damaging the metal surface when you strip off nylon coatings with the (J 45405) coating stripping tool from steel end pieces. Use the deburring tool of kit J 45405 to smooth both ends of the pipe before adding the tube nuts and cleaning the pipe and work surface. Then loosen the screw on tool J 45405 to setup the clamping dies. Place the matching die set onto the tool and put the ready pipe end into the dies while screwing down the clamp tightly. Apply the proper forming mandrel afterwards activate the lever on (J 45405) until the mandrel contacts the clamping dies then return the hydraulic forming ram to its original position. Verify that the newly formed flare matches its defined specifications which are 7.10 mm (0.279 in) +/- 0.18 mm (0.007 in) diameter (7.10 mm (0.279 in) +/- 0.18 mm (0.007 in) for 4.76 mm (3/16 in) diameter pipe). Use the specified brake pipe shaping tool to adjust the newly formed pipe section when needed keeping it 19 mm (3/4 in) away from all moving parts. Connect the pipe to its unions after installing it through the retainers then purge excess fluid from the braking system. To find brake pipe leaks open the engine and apply the brakes.
