2010 Cadillac STS Fuel Pressure Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel pressure sensor on the fuel injection fuel rail on 2010 Cadillac STS?
A: The first step for replacing the Fuel Pressure Sensor attached to the fuel injection Fuel Rail requires users to drain the fuel system pressure. First remove the cross vehicle brace and Intake Manifold before taking off the foam insulator from the fuel rails. The sensor housing should not receive any force at all because you should focus all your touch points to the hexagon attachment. A 27 mm socket should be used to remove the Fuel Pressure Sensor from its location and dispose of the component. Clear all remaining fuel from the Fuel Rail location along with the sensor area before you dry the sealing cone of the Fuel Rail and sensor junction with a lint-free cloth. Check the Fuel Rail sealing cone for absence of both fuel liquid and debris and burrs. The threads and sealing cone inside the Fuel Rail along with the new Fuel Pressure Sensor receive a coating of gm p/n 12345610 (Canadian P/N 993193) motor oil or equivalent product for lubrication. Torque the new Fuel Pressure Sensor by hand before removing it to apply silicone grease to the same areas from the initial instruction. Secure the new Fuel Pressure Sensor at 33 nm torque (25 lb ft). Proceed by placing back the foam insulator followed by the Intake Manifold. Replacement of the Fuel Rail becomes necessary in case a leak develops at this location. A complete check for fuel leaks requires you to turn on the ignition with the engine off for 2 seconds followed by a 10-second ignition shut-off period before another 2-second ignition turn-on with engine off. Verifying leaks must be carried out at this point. Install the cross vehicle brace as the last step.
