Cadillac STS Fuel Pressure Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the fuel pressure sensor on the LLT - Gas, 6 Cyl, 3.6L, Sidi, V6, Alum engine on Cadillac STS?
A: When replacing the Fuel Pressure Sensor of llt - gas, 6 cyl, 3.6l, sidi, v6, alum engines you must first use proper methods to lower fuel system pressure before moving forward. Begin by taking away the Intake Manifold and cross vehicle brace followed by removing the foam insulation around the Fuel Rails from the engine compartment. Apply only torque to the hexagon or hex fitting provided with the sensor instead of touching the plastic housing itself. The 27 mm socket helps to uninstall the Fuel Pressure Sensor from the fuel injection Fuel Rail for disposal. Empty all fuel from the Fuel Rail and sensor location while using a lint-free cloth to dry the sealing cone in the Fuel Rail and surrounding sensor joint area. Clear away all fuel residue as well as debris and burrs from the sealing cone. Apply silicon-free engine oil gm p/n 12345610 (Canadian P/N 993193) or equivalent to both the threads and sealing cone in the Fuel Rail followed by the new Fuel Pressure Sensor. Leisurely install the new Fuel Pressure Sensor into the fuel injection Fuel Rail until tight enough but then loosen it and reapply previously instructed lubricants. Afterwards install the sensor again by tightening it to 33 n.m (25 lb ft). The new Fuel Pressure Sensor needs to be fitted into the fuel injection Fuel Rail before applying torque to 33 n.m (25 lb ft). The sequence is to put back the foam insulator followed by reinstalling the Intake Manifold. Any fuel leakage at the Fuel Rail calls for a new Fuel Rail replacement. Turn on the ignition button while the engine stays off for two seconds followed by turning it off for ten seconds. Finally, re-activate the ignition button with the motor still off to look for fuel system leakage. Reinstall and replace the cross vehicle brace as the last step.
