2009 Cadillac STS Fuel Pressure Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel pressure sensor on the LLT 3.6L engine on 2009 Cadillac STS?
A: The first task when replacing a Fuel Pressure Sensor on a llt 3.6l engine fuel injection Fuel Rail is to discharge fuel system pressure. First detach the cross vehicle brace together with the Intake Manifold followed by removal of Fuel Rail foam insulation. The hexagon surrounding the plastic sensor should be the only tool applied to this component during tightening or loosening operations. Use a 27 mm socket to pull out the worn-out pressure fuel sensor into removal while discarding it to allow remaining fuel to drain from the rail and sensor position. Check the cleaning condition of the Fuel Rail sealing cone after drying it. Apply gm p/n 12345610 (Canadian P/N 993193) or equivalent engine oil free of silicon to both the threads and the sealing cone in the Fuel Rail as well as on the new Fuel Pressure Sensor. First tighten the new sensor by hand before removing it to repeat the previous lubrication instructions. Reinstall the sensor with a torque of 33 nm (25 lb ft). Tighten the installed sensor to 33 nm (25 lb ft). The procedure requires you to place back the foam insulator and the Intake Manifold. The Fuel Rail requires replacement when a leak occurs in its fuel supply area. The inspection for leaks starts with turning the ignition on for two seconds when the engine is not running followed by shutting the ignition for ten seconds and re-checking for leaks with the engine off. Attach the cross vehicle brace in its proper position.
