2010 Chevrolet Aveo Neutral Safety Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Neutral Safety Switch on 2010 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: Start by disconnecting both the negative Battery Cable and the park/neutral position (PNP) switch electrical connector from the wiring harness. The installation process requires separation of the e-ring and removal of the shift control cable from the pnp switch lever. First detach the retaining nut followed by the washer and control lever while unstaking the lock washer before removing the nut using a driver. Start by mounting the park/neutral position switch to the manual valve lever shaft before securing the two adjustment bolts temporarily. Attach new lock washer and nuts to the assembly while applying torque to 12 nm (106 lb in). First install the control lever temporarily and spin it counter-clockwise until it reaches its stopping point before proceeding to turn it clockwise by two notches then remove it once again. Install the bolts by aligning their position with the neutral basic line while torquing them to 5 nm (44 lb in). Stake the nut with the lock washer using a screwdriver and properly install the control lever, washer and nut until they achieve a torque of 12 nm (106 lb in). Fasten the control cable to both the pnp switch and the pnp switch electrical connector. Connect the control cable adjusting nut properly while tightening the screw to reach 8 nm of torque (71 lb in). Finish by reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.
