2010 Chevrolet Camaro Parking Brake Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear parking brake cable on 2010 Chevrolet Camaro?
A: The first step to replace the parking brake rear cable involves lifting up and sustaining the vehicle. To replace the park brake rear cable you need to first detach both the exhaust muffler intermediate heat shield and the Fuel Tank heat shield. As an entire unit the replacement occurs for the rear park brake cables. Slide forwards the rear park brake cable equalizer until the park brake cable front section becomes free from the equalizer connections. Pivot the rear park brake cable ferrules to the rear using your hands while they release from the retaining bracket. The rear park brake cables need to be detached from both their Fuel Tank retainers and their retainers found on each side of the rear suspension cradle. The park brake cable eyes must be disconnected from the park brake actuators while pushing suspension knuckle ferrules forward to release them. Detach the rear part brake cable assembly from its mounting position. The first step for installation involves setting the new rear park brake cable assembly then joining the rear park brake cable eyes to the park brake actuators. The rear park brake cable ferrules need to be installed into the suspension knuckles so they reach full seat depth. The rear park brake cables need to be attached to retainer components present on both sides of the rear suspension cradle and across two retainers found on the Fuel Tank. After pulling the rear park brake cable equalizer toward you install the front park brake cable to it. Follow this step by installing the rear park brake cable ferrules to the retaining bracket and confirming their complete insertion inside the bracket. Reinstall the Fuel Tank heat shield before placing back the exhaust muffler intermediate heat shield and perform two to three lever movements on the park brake to achieve proper cable tension before inspecting its operation.
