How to replace the rear Trunk Lid Lift Support on 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt?

Begin work on the rear compartment lid strut by supporting and opening the lid first to keep yourself safe. Insert a small flat tool to free the two clips that lock the handle rod to lower and upper ball studs. Pull out the rear compartment lid assist rod from the car. Install the rear compartment lid assist rod first by pressing it onto the upper ball stud and then by fitting it to the lower ball stud. Make sure you push both clips along their entire space on the rear compartment support rod prior to locking the box.
