How to replace the rear Trunk Lid Lift Support on Chevrolet Cobalt?

Before starting the rear compartment lid strut replacement you must first open and stabilize the lid while providing a secondary support mechanism. A small flat tool helps you disconnect the rod from its two stud connections when working on the rear compartment assist system. The rear compartment lid assist rod needs removal from the vehicle setup. To attach the rods push the backseat lid helper bar onto its top ball stud and then to its lower end ball stud. Push both clips completely onto the rear compartment assist rod before putting the rear compartment away.
