The next step requires workers to loosen exhaust Muffler band clamps (2, 5) before separating exhaust mufflers from the intermediate pipe. Open the Exhaust Pipe hanger lower nuts before unfastening both intermediate pipe-to-catalytic converter pipe nuts and the Exhaust Pipe seals . The jack stands should be dropped while removing the intermediate pipe. When using the original intermediate pipe during replacement ensure each tail pipe/Muffler band clip receives new alignment with marked positions followed by weld removal and placement of new clips according to marks. Clean the left and right Muffler contact areas to the intermediate pipe with brush wire until all residue is removed.
