  • Q: How to replace the right side exhaust manifold (LS3) on 2010 Chevrolet Corvette?
    A: The replacement process starts by uninstalling the engine sight cover followed by removing all spark plugs for right side Exhaust Manifold (LS3) intervention. The next step requires removal of the bank 2 sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor then rising the vehicle. The first step includes removing the Catalytic Converter followed by the possible extraction of a heat shield which protects the Exhaust Manifold. Start by removing the mounting nuts securing the Exhaust Manifold before taking away the Exhaust Manifold alongside its gasket. Before installing the Exhaust Manifold make sure the bolt hole threads on the Cylinder Head maintain a debris-free and clean condition. Move ahead by installing the Exhaust Manifold heat shield along with its bolts while tightening them to 9 nm (80 lb in). Keep the exhaust clamp loose because proper alignment between the Exhaust Manifold and Cylinder Head gasket needs time to establish. The Catalytic Converter installation requires the attachment to the intermediate pipe by securing it with one or two bolts which will maintain the manifold position and gasket seal. Past the application area of threadlock gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent, install both the Exhaust Manifold and its gasket before tightening the Exhaust Manifold bolts to 25 nm (18 lb ft). Begin with the two center Exhaust Manifold bolts then install bolts alternately from the center to outside positions while torquing them from 15 nm (11 lb ft) in the first stage to 25 nm (18 lb ft) in the final stage. After reinstalling spark plugs and engine sight cover the last step should be bank 2 sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor installation and attachment of the Catalytic Converter to Exhaust Manifold nuts.
