    Q:
How to replace the left side exhaust manifold (LS3) on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
The procedure for left side Exhaust Manifold (LS3) replacement requires the removal of the engine sight cover followed by removing the generator. Start by detaching the bank 1, sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor from the Exhaust Manifold along with removing spark plugs and Catalytic Converter installation. Caretakers must remove the Exhaust Manifold bolts before pulling out the manifold but should disconnect the heat assembly as clearance demands that. Start by cleaning threads of the bolt hole in the Cylinder Head Exhaust Manifold before proceeding with installation. Place the Catalytic Converter onto the intermediate pipe but do not tighten the clamp because proper alignment requires the Exhaust Manifold to position on the Cylinder Head. The first step is to install the Catalytic Converter before applying gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953489) threadlock gm p/n 12345493 to Exhaust Manifold bolts in a 5 mm (0.2 in) wide band along the threads. Cuq manual specifies to position the Exhaust Manifold with a new gasket and install the bolts according to a specific sequence starting with the center bolts then alternating between sides while torqueing to 15 nm (11 lb ft) first and finishing at 25 nm (18 lb ft). After putting the bank 1, sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor back in its position at the Exhaust Manifold you should replace the spark plugs before putting on the generator and finally mounting the engine sight cover. The final step should include installation of the Catalytic Converter.
