  • Q: How to replace the right exhaust manifold on 2006 Chevrolet Corvette?
    A: The replacement procedure for the right Exhaust Manifold requires the removal of engine sight cover together with spark plugs and bank 2 sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor. Rise the vehicle while uninstalling the Catalytic Converter then extract the mounting nuts from the Exhaust Manifold. The removal of the Exhaust Manifold heat shield possibly becomes required during this step. Inspection should start by cleaning all threads on the Exhaust Manifold bolt holes located on the Cylinder Head and eliminating any dirt or threadlock compounds. Install the Exhaust Manifold heat shield while securing its bolts tightly at 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Leave the exhaust clamp loose for now since this enables a proper fit of the Exhaust Manifold to the Cylinder Head with its gasket. Place the Catalytic Converter onto the intermediate pipe through the use of one or two bolts which secure the manifold and gasket until the Exhaust Manifold and gasket installation. Threadlock gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent product should be applied as a 5 mm (0.2 inch) band to the threads of Exhaust Manifold bolts. Start by spacing apart the Exhaust Manifold bolts to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) working from the middle outward until reaching the first and last bolts before finishing by securing all bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Place back the spark plugs together with the engine sight cover and bank 2 sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor. Secure the Catalytic Converter between the Exhaust Manifold and tighten the exhaust nuts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) while securing the exhaust clamp at 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.).
