    A: The first step to replace the left side Exhaust Manifold of a 6.0l engine begins with engine sight cover removal. First remove the Exhaust Manifold's sensor 1, bank 1 Oxygen Sensor and then proceed with detachments of spark plugs and the generator. First disconnect the Catalytic Converter while also removing the Exhaust Manifold bolts and if needed take off the heat assembly to achieve better clearance. Begin cleaning the threads in Exhaust Manifold bolt holes of the cylinder head to remove all debris and threadlocking material from the area. To install the new Exhaust Manifold position the component with a new gasket while applying a 5 mm (0.2 in) wide band of threadlock gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to the Exhaust Manifold bolts threads. Start by tightening the Exhaust Manifold bolts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) by beginning with the middle pair and continuing with alternating bolts from side to side before completing the procedure by tightening all bolts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) with the same left-right-right sequence. The replacement procedure requires reinstalling the bank 1 sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor and spark plugs and generator with engine sight cover. The team member should mount the Catalytic Converter onto the intermediate pipe keeping its clamp loose to enable Exhaust Manifold alignment with the cylinder head.
