A: Recovery of refrigerant starts the process of replacing the expansion (orifice) tube. The (J 26549-E) will be used to remove the expansion tube after the Evaporator hose retaining nut is removed from the Evaporator. The (J 26549-E) tool should be used to remove the expansion tube while applying heat to the dimpled inlet pipe with a heat gun or hair dryer at 7 mm (0.25 in) distance to loosen and extract the stuck expansion tube. First place the shorter end screen section into the Evaporator and apply 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to the o-ring seal before installation. Follow the directions in the (J 26549-E) to add the new expansion tube before attaching fresh sealing washers to the Evaporator tube. You should install the Evaporator hose to the Evaporator and torque the Evaporator hose retaining nut to 16 nm (12 lb ft). The last step involves evacuating and recharging the a/c system together with conducting a leak test on all component fittings through the use of (J 39400-A).
