2010 Chevrolet HHR Water Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the water pump on LE8 and LE9 engines (2.2L, 2.4L) on 2010 Chevrolet HHR?
A: You must take off these three parts to service le8 and le9 water pumps (engine types 2.2L and 2.4L). Remove the Water Pump access plate from the front cover by inserting the specialized j 43651 (Water Pump Holding Tool) to support the components. Insert the Water Pump holding tool bolt threads into the sprocket before fastening the tool to the front cover through the access cover bolts. Unfasten the three longest Water Pump sprocket bolts first and then take out the remaining two bolts plus the rear bolts using a suitable socket. Disassemble the engine harness clip from the Water Pump stud and detach the clip from the stud. Finally, extract the Water Pump from its locations. You should put sealant on the Water Pump drain plug before tightening it to 22 nm (16 lb ft). Start with full procedure reading to prevent balance shaft chain re-timing and install the Water Pump correctly; make a guide pin from an m6 m x 6 mm stud for alignment. Rest the Water Pump above the engine block and position its bolts over the Water Pump holding tool before hand tightening all bolts. Put all Water Pump sprocket bolts in place first then screw two bolts tightly before taking out the guide pin. Add the final bolt and tighten all sprocket bolts to 25 nm (18 lb ft). After tightening the Water Pump sprocket bolts to 10 nm (89 lb in), uninstall the j 43651 (Water Pump Holding Tool) and replace the Water Pump access panel with 10 nm (89 lb in) torque settings. Reconnect the coolant heater and windshield washer solvent container while replacing the Thermostat Housing.
