Begin by lifting and stabilizing your vehicle before the replacement work starts. Utilize the Water Pump sprocket bolts to install three inner pieces then take out guide pin and put in final bolt after parts are set in their positions. Secure Water Pump bolts at the front and rear with 25 nm torque and the Water Pump sprocket bolts with 10 nm torque. Install the Water Pump access plate and bolts with new seal while tightening the bolts to 10 nm (89 lb in) force. Replace the j 43651 (Water Pump Holding Tool). Use new o-rings on the radiator outlet and secure the Thermostat Housing while replugging the right engine shield. Install the Water Pump access plate and bolts with a new seal before lowering the vehicle. When refilling the coolant system check for any fluid leaks.

For 2.2l l61 engine Water Pump replacement you need the Water Pump holding tool (J 43651) plus other tools. Start your repair by taking off the Exhaust Manifold when working on automatic transmission vehicles and emptying the cooling system. Lift your car then start by taking off the wheel from the right front side and removing the fender liner. Complete the process by placing back the front fender liner, right front tire assembly with wheel, and Exhaust Manifold when necessary and refill the cooling system.

Secure the Water Pump against the engine block through the 2 bolts and fasten them to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Install the feed pipe first before bolting on the engine front cover using both bones and tightening them to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Place the last bolt into the Water Pump sprocket before taking off the threaded stud and bolt the sprocket to the Water Pump at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Put the Water Pump holding tool j 43651 aside then clamp the access plate onto the Water Pump sprocket to the Timing Cover and secure it with bolts which need tightening to 10 nm (18 inch lbs.). After that reinstall the front fender liner, right front tire and wheel together with the Exhaust Manifold when needed before adding cooling liquid.

A 2.2l l61 engine Water Pump replacement requires using the Water Pump holding tool (J 43651) as your essential tool. When handling an automatic transmission vehicle start with the Exhaust Manifold removal before draining the cooling system. Place the access plate on the Water Pump sprocket Timing Cover before adding bolts that should tighten to 10 nm (18 inch pounds). Replace the front fender liner and install the right front wheel before putting back the tire and the exhaust if used. Finally, fill the cooling system.

Before starting the Water Pump replacement process collect the Water Pump holding tool (J 43651) as well as other essential tools. Disconnect the Water Pump unit including its o-ring seal. First read through all steps of the procedure to prevent Water Pump re-timing problems during installation. Use a new Water Pump seal then make an alignment guide using an m6 m x 6 mm bolt. Put the Water Pump assembly against the engine block surface and start the bolts by hand. Replace the inner Water Pump sprocket bolts by removing the guide pin after tightening the first two bolts. Then apply 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) torque to all Water Pump bolts. Use a 10nm torque wrench to fasten and then take out the Water Pump holding tool (J43651) after tightening the Water Pump socket bolts. Fix the Water Pump access plate onto its position with bolts that require tightening to 10 nm (89 inch lbs). Apply silicone gel to the water feed pipe seals then put on a fresh o-ring seal and check that the thermostat housing block seal remains in place. Fit the water supply hose into the assembly while maintaining proper alignment to the thermostat opening then insert the o-ring seal gently. Set the thermostat housing on the engine space and secure the bolts at 10 nm torque (89 inch lbs). Rejoin the Coolant Temperature Sensor before attaching the inner splash shield with push pins and lastly the right-hand wheel assembly together with its wheel nuts at 125 nm (92 ft. Lbs.). Set the vehicle to its normal height before attaching the thermostat pipe bracket to the cylinder head bolt at 8 nm (71 inch lbs.) and placing the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts which need torqueing to 23 nm (17 ft. Lbs.). Check the vehicle level while closing all drain valves then fill the engine coolant system and look for any fluid leaks.

You should begin work by setting aside the air cleaner and Thermostat Housing before handling the Water Pump (LAF). You need to remove the Water Pump access plate from the front cover to drain the coolant through its bottom Drain Plug. Use the j 43651 Water Pump holding tool to support service operations while keeping it anchored by the access cover bolts. Insert the Water Pump onto its engine block position before tightening bolts by hand and secure the sprocket internal parts with 25 nm torque. After installing the sprocket bolts at 10 nm (89 lb in) torque tighten the Water Pump holding tool j 43651 and reinstall both Water Pump access plate bolts at 10 nm (89 lb in). Install the Water Pump thermos stat and air filter cover at the end of the process.

Take out the water pump and discard the O-ring seal.

Remove the coolant pump bolts to take out the coolant pump along with the gasket.

Remove the Water Pump Holding Tool (J 43651), install the access plate on the water pump sprocket to the timing cover, secure it with bolts, tightening them to 10 Nm (18 inch lbs.), then reinstall the front fender liner, the right front tire and wheel, and the exhaust manifold if applicable, and fill the cooling system.

Install a new water pump O-ring seal and create a guide pin using an M6 m x 6 mm stud for alignment.

Install the feed pipe and the engine front cover bolt, also tightened to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

Position the water pump against the engine block and hand tighten the front and rear water pump bolts.

Discard the old water pump O-ring seal.

Align the pin with the water pump holding tool, position the water pump against the engine block, and hand tighten the water pump bolts.

Position the water pump assembly against the engine block and hand tighten the bolts.

Remove the thermostat housing and coolant heater, followed by the water pump access plate from the front cover.

Hand tighten the water pump bolts, install the inner water pump sprocket bolts, snug two before removing the guide pin and installing the third bolt, then tighten all water pump bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft) and the water pump sprocket bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

Reinstall the coolant heater, windshield washer solvent container, and thermostat housing.

Use the J 43651 (Water Pump Holding Tool) to support the sprocket and chain, ensuring the balance shaft is not re-timed.
