2010 Chevrolet Cobalt Water Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the water pump (LNF) on 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: The first step to add a new Water Pump (LNF) is to lift and stabilize the vehicle. Take away the right engine splash shield and Water Pump access plate bolts before throwing out the seal. Open the bottom Water Pump plug and collect all the coolant from the pump. Carefully turn the Thermostat Housing and radiator outlet pipe free from their positions on the back of the Water Pump and Thermostat Housing. Thread the j 43651 Water Pump holding tool bolts directly into the Water Pump sprocket threads before installing the device. Fasten the Water Pump holding tool to the front cover by installing access plate bolts. Then take out the three bolts connecting the Water Pump with sprocket area before extracting all Water Pump bolts including two front and two rear ones to obtain the Water Pump. You should replace the old Water Pump o-ring seal during this step. First lay a fresh Water Pump o-ring seal and make an alignment guide from an m 6 x 6 mm metal study for Water Pump setup. Apply the Water Pump against the engine block then gently start the bolts at both its front and back ends. Use both inner Water Pump sprocket bolts first and then relax them. Remove the guide pin to finalize the installation of the remaining bolt. Secure both Water Pump areas to 25 nm (18 lb ft) torque while installing Water Pump sprocket bolts at 10 nm (89 lb in). Put back the holding tool j 43651 and fasten new access plate bolts with the Water Pump to 10 nm (89 lb inch) torque value. Reinstall the radiator outlet pipe while replacing o-rings then add the Thermostat Housing and right engine splash shield. As the last steps install the Water Pump access plate with new seals then lower the vehicle and check the cooling system for leaks.
