2008 Chevrolet HHR Water Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the water pump on LE5-2.4L and L61-2.2L engines on 2008 Chevrolet HHR?
A: Drivers need the dial indicator mounting post (J 25025-5) and Water Pump holding tool (J 43651) to replace the Water Pump in le5-2.4l and l61-2.2l engines. First you must take away the Thermostat Housing together with both coolant heater and windshield washer solvent container. First use Water Pump holding tool (J 43651) to support sprocket and chain when you unscrew the Water Pump access plate from the front cover. Insert the bolts into the holding tool's threads mounted on the Water Pump sprocket before tightening them and using the access cover bolts to secure the tool onto the front cover assembly. Turn first the Water Pump sprocket bolts that run inside and then disconnect the two Water Pump bolts before removing the rear Water Pump bolts. Use a screwdriver to release the engine harness from its stud on the Water Pump then take out the Water Pump through this path. Before placing the new Water Pump fit a sealant onto the Water Pump drain plug and tighten it to 22 n.m (16 lb ft). You can hold the Water Pump straight by making an m6 m x 6 mm stud guide pin and positioning the Water Pump holding tool j 43651 with the pin. Hand-tighten the Water Pump bolts before placement. Firmly connect two inner Water Pump sprocket bolts before removing the guide pin, lastly put in the rest of the bolts and tighten all Water Pump fasteners at 25 n.m torque (18 lb foot). Take out the Water Pump holding tool j 43651 from the Water Pump sprocket bolts and torque them to 10 n.m force (89 lb in). Reassembly the parts by putting back the coolant heater and Thermostat Housing with the windshield washer solvent container.
