2007 Chevrolet HHR Water Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the water pump on 2007 Chevrolet HHR?
A: You need two tools to fix the Water Pump: dial indicator mounting post (J 25025-5) and Water Pump holding tool (J 43651). Start work by unplugging the Thermostat Housing and coolant heater then detach the windshield washer solvent container. Next take off the Water Pump access plate from the front cover. Attach the Water Pump holding tool j 43651 while engaging its bolts in the access spots to keep the sprocket and chain stable during service. Take off the three inner bolts connecting the Water Pump sprocket to its body. Subsequently detach the two Water Pump bolts and the rearmost two Water Pump bolts. Remove the Water Pump by taking off its engine harness clip nut. Then separate the Water Pump harness clip from the Water Pump stud. Put sealant on the Water Pump drain plug prior to installing the plug and tighten it to 22 n.m or 16 lb feet. Make an alignment guide from an m6 m x 6 mm stud beforehand for the Water Pump holding tool j 43651. Place the Water Pump in position against the engine block and start tightening the bolts by hand. Start by fastening two Water Pump bolts lightly and then take down the guide pin to install the third bolt. Do not forget to torque all Water Pump bolts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) and Water Pump sprocket bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Finish the task by taking off both the Water Pump holding tool (J 43651) and Water Pump access plate. Then you must hand tighten all bolts.
