How to replace the Air Bag Sensor for Side Impact on 2010 GMC Canyon?

To replace the Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor, first disable the SIR system. Next, take off the front door trim panel and pry the rear half of the water deflector off the back of the door to get to the side impact sensor. If you must remove the screws securing the side impact sensor to the door and disconnect the electrical connection portion of the sensor, you can do so. After taking off the sensor, clean the mounting or touching surface out of the dirt, grease, or impurities. Place the new side impact sensor in a horizontal orientation to the door and join the electrical connector. Screw the screws to fasten the sensor with a tightness of 9 Nm (79 lb in) in addition to making sure that the water deflector is properly seated in the door. Lastly, reinstall the door trim panel, allow the SIR system, and turn the car on.
