2010 GMC Canyon Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2010 GMC Canyon?
A: You need to repeat pressing and releasing the Brake Pedal until it becomes stiff to consume the power vacuum Brake Booster vacuum reserve. An appropriate tool should be used to suction and dispose of the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir. Use denatured alcohol to clean the master cylinder assembly until it fully dries after removing all dirt and debris accumulation. Start by disconnecting the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector before you uninstall the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting while sealing the brake pipe fitting and covering the master cylinder outlet port to stop fluid loss and keep it clean. Move on to disconnect the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting by capping the brake pipe fitting along with the master cylinder outlet port plug. After removing master cylinder nuts and removing the master cylinder with its o-ring seal from the Brake Booster unit check the o-ring seal for damage. Replace the o-ring seal if found damaged. Bleed any new master cylinder by bench method before final installation. Place the master cylinder into the power vacuum Brake Booster while aligning its o-ring seal inside the master cylinder body groove. Tighten the master cylinder nuts until they reach 30 nm (22 lb ft) torque. Connect master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting with 17 nm (13 lb ft) tension then connect master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting with 17 nm (13 lb ft) torque. Connect the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector after filling the master cylinder reservoir with recommended brake fluid and performing a hydraulic brake system bleed.
