2010 GMC Canyon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder on 2010 GMC Canyon?
A: The white plastic sleeve on the quick connect requires the hydraulic clutch line separator tool (J 42371) to ensure proper separation of the hydraulic Clutch Hose from the clutch actuator quick connect. Start the retainer removal from the clutch pedal pin through inserting a flat bladed tool between the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod and clutch pedal assembly to pry the push rod away. Then discard the retainer. First raise the vehicle for support before disconnecting the clutch hydraulic hose retainer from the vehicle's inner fender while maintaining a lowered position. A clockwise 1/8 turn rotation starts the procedure to remove the Clutch Master Cylinder and hydraulic hose from the cowl. Route the clutch hydraulic hose with the master cylinder under the brake booster before inserting the master cylinder into the cowl with the clutch fluid reservoir cap positioned at 1:30. Continue by rotating the cylinder counterclockwise 1/8 turn until it fully seats with the cap positioned at 12:00. Put the vehicle back into raised position while checking that the clutch hydraulic hose stays away from any hot or sharp components before pushing the quick connect fitting into the Clutch Slave Cylinder until a secure "click" sound occurs followed by gentle tug checks for correct retention. First attach the clutch hydraulic hose retainer to the inner fender under the vehicle while it is lowered. Then install a fresh retainer piece inside the master cylinder push rod before pushing the push rod onto the clutch pedal pin for security. Adjust the clutch release switch together with the clutch pedal position switch while performing necessary clutch hydraulic system bleeding.
