The white plastic sleeve on the quick connect requires use of the hydraulic clutch line separator (J 42371) to push back and detach the hydraulic Clutch Hose from the clutch actuator quick connect. Remove the retainer from the clutch pedal pin through a flat bladed tool that separates the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod from the pedal assembly before the retainer becomes useless. Raise the vehicle into position while supporting its weight. Then remove the clutch hydraulic hose retainer from inside the fender before lowering down the vehicle. After rotating the Clutch Master Cylinder clockwise 1/8 turn users can remove the assembly with its hydraulic hose from the cowl. When installing the Clutch Master Cylinder position the reservoir cap at the 1:30 position before rotating clockwise 1/8 turn until complete insertion with the cap oriented at the 12:00 position. Reverse the motion to raise the vehicle one more time before sliding the quick connect fitting into the Clutch Slave Cylinder. You will hear a "click" when it's properly seated so gently tug on the fitting to confirm proper retention. After setting the clutch hydraulic hose retainer to the inner fender position, lower the vehicle because you need to insert a new retainer into the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod and push the push rod onto the clutch pedal pin. The clutch hydraulic system requires bleeding only when adjustments to the clutch release switch and clutch pedal position switch completion.

Use the j 42371 (J 42371) hydraulic clutch line separator to gently push the white plastic sleeve back on the quick connect and release the hydraulic Clutch Hose from the clutch actuator, making sure the check valves keep most fluid in. First, support and raise the vehicle, and afterwards detach the clutch hydraulic hose retainer located on the inner fender. Position the vehicle on the ground and make a quarter turn clockwise to the Clutch Master Cylinder before you pull it out with the hose from the cowl. To set up, run the clutch hydraulic hose under the brake booster, and slide the Clutch Master Cylinder into the cowl so the reservoir cap is at the 1:30 position. Twist the Clutch Master Cylinder counterclockwise 1/8 turn so it is all the way seated, and check that the cap is straight up at 12:00. Elevate the vehicle one more time, being careful that the clutch hydraulic hose stays away from sharp or hot spots, and then push the quick connect fitting of the hydraulic hose firmly onto the Clutch Slave Cylinder, making sure there is a clear click and that it stays put. Fasten the retainer for the clutch hydraulic hose to the inner fender, lower the vehicle, and put a new retainer onto the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod . Next, put the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod onto the clutch pedal pin to keep it in place, set the clutch release switch and clutch pedal position switch, and bleed the clutch hydraulic system if you feel it is needed.

Install the Clutch Master Cylinder with its reservoir cap at the 1:30 position before sliding it under the brake booster into the cowl position. Pull the reservoir cap counterclockwise by a half turn until it reaches a 12:00 position alignment. After raising the vehicle check the clutch hydraulic hose avoids contacting sharp or hot surfaces before locking the quick connect fitting into the Clutch Slave Cylinder until a "click" sounds then gently test the connection to verify proper retention. When working on the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod use a new retainer to fasten it along with the inner fender. Then lower the vehicle and install the retainer into the push rod before pushing the push rod onto the clutch pedal pin for stability. Delegate proper adjustment to the clutch release switch and clutch pedal position switch before performing necessary clutch hydraulic system bleeding procedures.

The hydraulic clutch line separator tool (J 42371) helps separate the white plastic sleeve from the quick connect to split the hydraulic Clutch Hose from the clutch actuator quick connect. Use a flat bladed tool to separate the retainer from the clutch pedal pin by sliding it between the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod and clutch pedal components. You should then discard the retainer. Before master cylinder installation into the cowl position the clutch fluid reservoir cap to the 1:30 indicator while routing the clutch hydraulic hose together with the master cylinder near the Brake Booster. Insert the unit counterclockwise by one-eighth rotation until complete seating while keeping the cap positioned up at the 12:00 mark. Use the vehicle lifter to raise your vehicle while checking that the clutch hydraulic hose stays clear of sharp edges and hot areas before pushing the quick connect fitting into the Clutch Slave Cylinder until it makes a "click" sound during insertion. Complete the check by giving the fitting a gentle pull to verify retention. Secure the new retainer inside the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod while fitting the retainer onto the vehicle's inner fender then lower the vehicle to install. Push the rod against the clutch pedal pin to lock it in place. You should complete the final steps by adjusting both the clutch release switch and clutch pedal position switch followed by bleeding the clutch hydraulic system if needed.

Raise the vehicle again, ensuring the clutch hydraulic hose does not contact sharp or hot surfaces, then push the quick connect fitting into the clutch slave cylinder until a "click" is heard, and tug gently to ensure proper retention.
