2010 GMC Savana 2500 Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front disc brake pads (JH6, JH9) on 2010 GMC Savana 2500?
A: Before starting the front disc Brake Pad replacement work, check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level. Drain fluid to achieve an equal point between maximum and minimum marks if fluid level exceeds that midpoint. To start the work set the vehicle on stands and take off the wheel and tire set. Support the brake caliper with wire to avoid damaging the hydraulic Brake Line when testing the component. Keep the hydraulic brake hose connected when you detach the caliper from its bracket to move it aside. Lift out the brake pads from their caliper mounting bracket while discarding the anti-rattle clips. Check the brake parts in both the caliper and mounting bracket. To install the new brake caliper position the anti-rattle clips onto the bracket ends first before placing the brake pads properly and setting the caliper back into position. Install the wheel and tire assembly along with taking away safety stands and letting the vehicle drop down. Press the Brake Pedal gently two-thirds of the way while letting it come back down slowly for several repetitions before the brake should have a strong feeling when installed correct pad alignment in the calipers. After filling the master cylinder reservoir with brake fluid fill you need to work the brake system.
