2010 GMC Sierra 1500 Knock Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace Knock Sensor 1 on 2010 GMC Sierra 1500?
A: Start by properly raising and supporting the vehicle when you replace Knock Sensor 1. Begin by removing oil pan skid plate with its connecting bolts. To start the Knock Sensor 1 replacement remove the bolt securing the knock sensor heat shield then the shield itself before moving the knock sensor sleeve downward out of the sensor path. You must first disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the knock sensor and then remove the sensor bolt before extracting the sensor itself. To install the knock sensor position it to the engine block then tighten the bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb ft). Route the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the knock sensor then slide the knock sensor sleeve upwards to enclose the knock sensor. Seam the knock sensor heat shield to the engine block then fasten the bolt while torquing it to 10 Nm (89 lb in). Mount the oil pan skid plate after reinstalling it and secure all bolts with a torque of 28 Nm (21 lb ft). Finally, lower the vehicle.
